A Message from the Duncan Red Cedar

Yesterday I visited the Duncan Cedar - the largest Red Cedar tree in the world. On the way there I was disheartened while driving past where the large cedars had been harvested many years before and had not grown back.

When I arrived, to find the 1000+ year old Duncan Cedar seeming barely alive. I could see it had survived fire and knew it holds much knowledge. I stepped into its trunk and received a message...

"Dear One, We are honored to provide you the sustenance you need to build your homes, tables, floors, and all the things you use us for. 

All that we ask is that you honor us, the things that are made of us. Honor your homes, your furniture. Honor the land, the wind, the sky, the rain the waters, the Earth. We honor you as you honor us.

Do not be dis-heartened dear one. Even though you humans could do things better, know it is all in divine time, that change is good."

We can do better as humans, especially with the environment. As with anything, we cannot go back, only forward, where we can make choices with a new understanding and perspective.
